Empire Slice House.. Oh how I love thee, let me count the slices... =)
We've been to Empire Slice House so many times I cant even fathom how much fun that adds up to! The pizza pies are unique for "east coast style" and are not your run-of-the-mill topping combinations. They have one size pie... HUGE!
Luckily, they sell several different combos that are available by the slice for a single serving so your not forced to take home pizza-geddon every time you crave a piece. The staff is phenomenal and the service has always been great. The Andre the Giant Meatball is 1 pound of lamb and pork meat and is swimming in marinara. The anti pasta platter at Empire is a MUST HAVE! Fresh Cheeses and meats with pepperoncini and flat bread. My mouth is watering! Always plan ahead on the weekends, its usually crowded!!
I can honestly say we have never had a bad experience. Give Empire Slice House a try!
I've never been to Mexico, but I desperately want to go! If I were to go to Mexico, This is what I would envision the cuisine to be! Abel's has to be the closest thing to AUTHENTIC you can possibly get in town! The street tacos are fresh and handmade, so are the salsas and the platter dishes! Its all so good I cant possibly say enough!
The wait staff is always the same people, It appears that have little turnover of employees, and the food is ALWAYS the same! You must give Abel's a TRY!!
This is becoming my new favorite pub! Why, you ask? Awesome gourmet sandwich fare, fabulous drinks and snacks and there is ZERO cigarette smoke (we hate smoke) !! The sandwiches and salads are made with gourmet ingredients you dont see everyday a have a "high brow head chef" feel without the white table cloth price.
If you go to The Mule you MUST try the Wisconsin Cheese Curds!! Indescribably good and DEEP FRIED!! Oh yeah baby,,,,
The drinks are reasonable and well made and the atmosphere is upbeat and fun! Call your friends and stop by for cocktails and nosh!
I have to confess what drug me into Kitchen No. 324 were the pictures on Urbanspoon, Yes, yes, I pay attention to the pictures. The chicken pot pie with the chicken leg sticking out intrigued me so much, I HAD to give this place a try.

First, the place is a newly renovated building in downtown OKC across from the federal courthouse. I'm sure the employee's down there already love this place! The first thing I can say is its definitely a place to take someone if your wanting the an elegant brunch place versus a "diner" setting. Its definitely not a "diner".
I ordered the Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict and it in no way disappointed!! Delicious fresh and unique all at once. My daughter had the French Dip (double dipped) was fantastic!! This is definitely a place for special occasions and "dress up" days. Its elegant and clean setting is comforting and the food is nothing like anything else. Don't miss out on this one!
Saying what ISN’T good about Blackbird Gastropub is a much
shorter list than trying to tell you everything GOOD about it. In fact the bad list
may be an empty list. Blackbird is not your typical “pub”, it’s an upscale
moderate dining establishment that has excellent service, delicious food and
$2.00 well drinks every day. YES SPORTSFANS, $2.00 well drinks!!! A rum and
coke is a measly $2.00 and $1.00 more for a double. WHEW! I love this place.
Family friendly with great service and did I happen to
mention $2.00 well drinks? WOO HOO! We go here every time we go to Norman now.
The wait staff knows us by site and we live 30 minutes away. TRY IT OUT!
I’m stunned it’s taken me this long to blog about Iron
Starr. I have enjoyed this place for years.
The drinks are top notch, the menu has a large selection of items you don’t see
every day and they call themselves a BBQ place. It’s so much more than that.
The drink menu has a tasty and fun collection of unique
takes of old favorites such as a Bloody Mary made spicy and delicious with
their own custom twists. They have a BEEF
TENDERLOIN SALAD that is my favorite item on the menu. Grilled pieces of tenderloin
in an exclusive mixture that is so good you won’t believe it!! Its family friendly and great for couple’s
dinners. Do yourself a favor and try Iron Starr!
I was pleasantly surprised by this bar & grill having walked in expecting to half choke from cigarette smoke which was not the case. They have very good ventilation as I noticed when we walked in. They offer daily lunch specials and affordable, large sized portions that are fresh made to order. The drink I had was a tall rum & coke and was very reasonable at $4.50. The hamburger steak was excellent and the accompanying salad was fresh and delicious.
The food was served quickly and the service was good overall. Fun place, lots of TV's and large menu with a wide variety of choices! GIVE COUSINS A TRY!!
Joeys was GOOD when they were on Classen.. They are FANTASTIC at their new location!! The pizza is awesome and the dessert is to DIE FOR!! The new location boasts great seating and a full service bar and the prices are NOT reflective of the usual Downtown/Bricktown fare!
Being a "thin crust" pizza hater, I was so happy to see they have choices in regards to crust types. We had hand tossed and it was fantastic. Lightly oiled and sprinkled with Parmesan its was a delight!
Prices are surprisingly reasonable and the food is super good! The mixed drinks won't gouge and the beer specials are great! Family Friendly, great service and just a fun place to be!! CHECK IT OUT your really missing excellent Pizza!
When we went to Sara Sara Cupcakes, I have to admit I was expecting something just short or spectacular or better, but I was a bit disappointed. The cupcakes were quite moist and lasted a few days in the refrigerator, but I thought they would be a bit more flavorful and more inventive in design. They are good, but for the price I was expecting "spectacular".
Sara Sara Cupcakes is a place you might visit a few times but I don't think its a place I would go to every week. It might be a fun place to take the kids for a treat, but the price may not be conducive to large families on a budget. Try it once to see if you like it! :)
Showing up for happy hour and then being PLEASANTLY surprised by an awesome frugal deal is ALWAYS a good thing! Iguana Grill in OKC has an awesome Tuesday cheap eats dinner deal. They have various Mexican beers for $2.00 a can (all night) and $1.50 domestics until 6:30pm.
The $1 tacos were surprisingly tasty and quite good. They referred to them as MINI tacos but were a nice size and really delicious. Don't miss this awesome deal on Tacos and Beer at the Iguana Grill!
"Total Yummyness"
Weve tried Meiki's Italian American restaurant in NW Oklahoma City. The food is always excellent and the ambience is always inviting and cozy mostly due to the fact that its family owned and run. Service is very attentive. This is a great moderately priced Italian place that should never be overlooked!
You cannot visit central Oklahoma and NOT have the fried chicken at Eischens in Okarche, OK. The breading is the best you will taste, the chicken is moist and once you eat some you will order a second tub!
Guy Fieri was even impressed. Take your wife, take your kids and even throw in your mother in law, the chicken is an experience you will never forget.
BE WARNED... If you wanna eat of Friday or Saturday night, you better get there at 4pm (no joke) the line usually wraps around the building (sometimes even on weeknights!!)
True Class...
Cheevers has managed to not only maintain a top notch gourmet menu for a very long time, it is still as classy an experience as at was the first day. The building is a semi renovated florist that was once a residentail address many years ago.
From pasta to steak, nothing on the menu looks unappetizing. The protions are MORE than generous and can be split by 2 easily if your not famished.
The Blue Cheese Potato Chips and the Roasted Chicken and Pepper Jack Strudel are tasty and elegant starters. The Molasses Roast Chicken Breast may be the best entree on the menu. Always delicious and perfectly prepared its an item you shouldnt miss!
Whether your on a formal date, celebrating an anniversary or would just like an upscale dinner on a white table cloth on a tuesday night Cheevers is always a good choice that is sure to please!
When I saw the sign for Pho'Nomenal I said "another Pho place..hmmmm..". Wow.. its not just another Pho place!!
Having lived in Okinawa Japan for 2 years, I was exposed to fantastic international cuisine thats been almost impossible to find the states. Pho'Nomenal is one of 3 places in OKC that gets about as close to true Asian cuisine as your going to get in my opinion. I used to live there. :)
The vermicelli bowls are outstanding and the Pho soup bowls are some of the best in the State of Oklahoma. Ive eaten a lot of Pho in my lifetime and the broth at Pho'Nomenal is superb. The greens are always fresh and the noodles are always perfect. The rice plates are a specialty there and if your not an adventurous diner, these are a always a safe bet.
The extensive menu boasts a large selection of both Vietnamese and Chinese favorites and is some of the freshest and most perfectly cooked food in OKC. This restaurant is kid friendly and is also a great place to take a date. Dont miss out on this dining experience!!
Upper Crust, located in the new super chic area known as "Classen Curve" is as upscale as a pizza joint can get. I was skeptical when it first opened but I was pleasantly surprised by the fresh ingredients, the unique eats other than pizza and the repeatedly good service.
Starting out, you must have the Anti-Pizza Plate. I actually crave this dish! Delicious cheeses, gourmet italian snack meats, salad, olives and flat bread. Its almost a meal itself. After this, order up a custom artisan pizza made to order and fresh.
The selection of beer and bar drinks is extensive and they house a large wine cellar that is temperature and humidity comtrolled to insure the integrity of the stored vintages.
Whether your taking the kids out after the ball game or trying to inpress your boss or date, Upper Crust is a far better alternative than the burgers and much nicer than a run-of-the-mill pizza parlor. CHECK IT OUT!!
Doesnt matter what you order at the LIDO, its always fresh and fantastic. They truly know what they are doing, anything you order is made perfectly. I can say its a place I have NEVER had a bad experience.
The menu is expansive and the food is top notch for such a large Chinese Vietnamese selection. The vietnamese coffee is excellent and the noodle soup bowls are outstanding.
We were passing thru Downtown OKC and happened upon this true dining experience and had honestly only stopped in for a drink. Little did I know I was in for a dining experience I would never forget!
The modern, stylish decor might make you think you need to be in "Black Tie" apparel but nothing could be further from the truth! The welcoming and polite staff never once groused that I was in blue jeans and a sweat top (we hadn't expected to find this awesome place) and the bartender Josh was VERY knowledged on every item I quizzed him on about both taste and style. By the way Josh, your dirty martini is now on my "to die for list". :) Their selection of what they consider their "well liquors" epitomizes the phrase "top shelf". The hours of Red PrimeSteak's Happy Hour is a generous 4:30 to 7 pm, long after other bistros have stopped the fun!
Happy Hour at Red PrimeSteak is exactly what I would have expected from what was voted one of the Top 10 Steakhouses in the United States !! I certainly see why! The drinks are not watered down, cut rate priced typical fares at a usual happy hour. NO SIR. They are the same expertly throw cocktail drinks you get at any time. They offer delectable "Tapa" styled horsd'oeuvres that are offered for a mere $3.00 a plate!! (I almost thought I was reading it wrong) After viewing the price, I expected a half toastlet with .876 oz of actual meat on it. NO SIR! We were delighted as a full size plate of Beef Tenderloin Crostini with Mayfair Blue Cheese was presented along with a large serving of Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Crusted Chicken skewers. More than generous portions obviously prepared and cooked by a Iron Chef level culinary artist. I do mean artist when you see that the food is as beautifully well plated as it is unforgettably delicious. I sat in my jeans and sweat top and dined liked "A" list Hollywood royalty and had only stopped by for nothing more than my usual Crown and Coke.
"Worth every penny"
My mothers father, Tom Conway, (god rest his soul!) was probably the first and assuredly the most "opinionated" connoisseur of "fine dining" in my life. He taught me that nothing is more insulting than to spend good money on bad food. At Red PrimeSteak you wont ever have that issue. Being visually dazzled by the modern decor and the floor to ceiling wire rack wall with 300 types of wine, one might think dinner is about to run you $200 bucks for 2 people like it would at the Boulevard or the Ranch Steakhouse. I was astonished on the low price of the 14 oz 40 Day Dry Aged Rib eye or the 18 oz Dry Aged Bone-in Strip. Most places in the U.S. that take their time to age meat in a climate controlled environment charge upwards of $65.00 to $120.00 a plate. At Red PrimeSteak it is a moderate price of only $43.00 a plate. This, other than the Cold Water Lobster tail looks to be the most expensive thing on the menu and from what I experienced is the BEST thing on the menu and should not be overlooked.
As long as I have lived in the OKC area, I have never dined at a place as well organized, beautifully designed and with a staff that was fully knowledged on every aspect of the menu I questioned anyone about. The owner and managers at Red PrimeSteak certainly run a tight ship and the food and service show every bit of it!
I would like to certainly like to bid my condolences to The Boulevard in Edmond and The Ranch Steakhouse in Oklahoma City. I'm sorry to see you go old friends, but you have not only been replaced in my heart, you have seriously been outdone! BRAVO Red PrimeSteak!!
Eating at Nic's has far exceeded the description of a taste explosion, it is now classified as a spiritual experience! Even though by the size of this place it can certainly described as a "hole in the wall", the taste and enjoyment of everything on the menu is paramount to eating at a $10 burger joint!
Nic has always done all the cooking each time I have been there. He is a expert grill cook (I mean EXPERT). Nothing is ever overcooked burned or partially raw. Its PERFECT. You should NOT miss the breakfast at Nic's because it is better than just about anything on earth (for breakfast!)
They serve gourmet thick cut bacon, cooked fabulously well and the eggs and potatoes literally melt in your mouth! The prices are just as good as the food, serving up mouth watering meals at decent low price!
The burgers at Nic's have been described by some as "the best burger in town" and that is no lie! A few onion burger places in town soured me from "fresh grill style" burgers due to under cooking, overcooking and sloppy presentation. Nic's grill fulfills all the wants and needs of the hungry lunch eater! DON'T MISS THIS PLACE, its unbelievable!
Note: When going to Nic's for lunch, he usually has a line OUT THE DOOR for lunch! Have enough time to wait , order and take it back to work!! It truly is a religious experience!
